Each season brings out a unique beauty in the land. It has been nourishing to our hearts and hands, in every season of our lives.
We offer products and services to support and help the members of our community and surrounding areas. A sampling includes:
Maple Syrup, Wild Leeks, Fresh Fruit, and Vegetables
The property where WestWind Farm resides was purchased by Gordon and Ethel Finnigan in 1971. Construction began with themselves and their adult children helping to clear the land. The home was completed 3 years later.
Throughout their golden years they hosted their three children and all 14 of their grandchildren at various times. Of all the earthly goodness the farm has produced over the years, we are sure that Gordon and Ethel would emphatically proclaim that those 14 grandchildren and currently 42 great-grandchildren are its most valuable resource.
Mike and Karen Finnigan purchased the farm from his parents in 1980. They raised their family there close to their grandparents for a time until employment opportunities took them to New York and then to California. After serving a mission in New Zealand and as the Temple President for the San Diego Temple, Mike and Karen have returned home. They love being the full-time caretakers of this beautiful property. Last year, they were joined by a long term house guest, a Chocolate Labrador named Coco. They welcome their friends, their family, and those who need a few hours of peaceful respite, to visit.
Built for the practical purpose of boiling the maple sap into syrup, the 14 children who called Gordon, "Grandpa" always looked forward to the goodness of the syrup and the fun of the maple snow candy. But if you ask them today what their sweetest memory is, they respond sitting for hours with their grandfather, listening to his wisdom as he boiled the sap.
Our trees have names. If you walk around the orchard, you'll notice copper tags on the trees. Each tag contains the name of one of Ethel and Gordon's great-grandchildren inscribed. This is just another way in which it's easy to see how important family is to us. Your family is important to us too.
We promise that our products and services will receive the same care and attention they would get if we were creating them for our grandchildren.
Not sure what you need? Relax! We can be of assistance.
